Whangamata - ‘A New Zealand holiday paradise’

When visiting a country, it always pays to check out where the locals go for their own holidays – and New Zealand’s no different!

Thousands of Kiwis, many from Auckland, head to the Coromandel Peninsula for their own weekend and holiday breaks, and one popular drawcard is Whangamata.

This small township sits between rainforests and fabulous beaches, some known for their surfing. Big game fishing attracts more visitors but the visitor who prefers dry land can enjoy a range of seaside cafes, shops and more relaxed activities.

The Coromandel Forest Park and Tairua Forest bordering the town provides short walks, mountain bike trails and old gold mining sites.
