Best golf course

A Hawkes Bay golf course has been named as the best in the world.

The UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph named the Cape Kidnappers golf course as the world's number one, beating the likes of Pebble Beach in the United States and Turnberry in Scotland.

The paper said Cape Kidnappers earned its place as the world's best course with its dramatic cliff-top location high above the Pacific Ocean on the North Island's east coast.

The designer of the course, American golf architect Tom Doak, said the play at Cape Kidnappers was “seaside golf at its finest,” a challenging adventure in a setting of ridges and ravines.

A round at Cape Kidnappers costs between NZ$300 and NZ$400 – a snip for the chance to play the world’s top golf course!
